I guess everyone is very familiar with the classic Disney movie Sleeping Beauty, right? Watching Maleficent made me realize how random Maleficent in the classic movie was. Did she just heard that the King had a daughter and that she will curse her as a gift for the Christening?
This film is more of Maleficent’s perspective. There were a lot of plot twists., which made the movie even better. Angelina Jolie did well in portraying Maleficent. Elle Fanning, who played Auror, did good sas well. Although in most of the parts, all she did was to laugh. The three fairies were just very annoying. They’re very clumsy and don’t even know how to act like an actual aunt. They were a bit funny and a lot annoying. So is King Stefan, who is Aurora’s father. He’s very greedy, very hungry for power. He doesn’t even know how say thank you to the fairies who kept his daughter for 16 years.
I have no issues with the storyline, it was just awesome. The twists in the film were just very logical, especially the part where Aurora fell into her curse. It can’t be a true love if you just met a beautiful girl in the woods. Maleficent learned to love Aurora without even knowing it. That was truly logical, she watched her for 16 years, even saved her life in some circumstances. And tried to revoke the curse and find the boy whom Aurora met in the woods to make Aurora wake up from her death sleep. The movie taught us that not all the time true love will come from the opposite sex. People just perceive it that way because of the word love, maybe.
